Safari Sighting: 1959 Chevrolet

Reader Carl V. just sent in his most recent discovery;

While on a Jeep tour of the old back roads of Bisbee, Arizona, I was surprised to see this 1959 Chevrolet sticking out of a shelter in the side of a hill. The tour guide said it had been there since he started giving tours in the early 1960′s. He had no idea of who owned it.

That means this car was parked only a few years after being purchased new. It has been sitting for a long time and may be too far gone to be worth saving, but the story is interesting nonetheless. Does anyone here know anything about this abandoned car? Read more »

It is a 1962 Mercedes 190SL and it has only had one owner its whole life. This beauty only covered 42k miles before being put into storage in 1969 so it is completely original. Even the tires are claimed to be original and still holding air. The car is not currently on the market, but Mike thought it was just too good to not share. Read more »

In the world of unique cars there aren’t many cars as unique as the Citroen DS. Well reader Greg L not only found a DS, but one of the first to make it to the states and one of the few remaining that hasn’t already been restored. Here is the story of Greg’s DS barn find in his own words, “A gentleman in Citrus Heights, California (a suburb of the California state capital of Sacramento) bought the car from Executive Motors in San Francisco (supposedly the largest Citroen dealer in the USA — which, frankly isn’t saying much!) in 1958. Its serial number is 4086 (amazingly they went on to create another 1.3 million after it!) Read more »
